Who is this course suitable for?

In a nutshell - everyone!

All the modules in Offshore Wind Learning were developed to be accessible to anyone interested in the sector, no matter your age or experience. We've aimed to build each lesson to provide you with a solid foundation of the key concepts, and each lesson continues to build on these concepts so you can retain and apply the knowledge.

If you already have prior knowledge in the energy sector, some concepts may not be new to you - but it is always a good idea to refresh this knowledge!

Do I need any prior offshore wind knowledge to complete the course?

No! While prior knowledge is certainly useful, we've designed the course to provide students with a good understanding of fundamental concepts and knowledge, even if you have no idea what an offshore wind farm is before you start the course. Throughout each lesson, we'll provide you with definitions of key terminology and principles so that you have all the tools you need to successfully complete the course.

How long will it take me to complete the course?

On average, it will take around 20 minutes to complete each lesson so that you can easily fit your Offshore Wind Learning into your busy schedule. This means that to complete the each module, it will take on average 1 to 1.5 hours. And to complete the entire course of 8 modules, it will take on average just around 8 hours.

However, we recommend not rushing through the course and to take your time to absorb the knowledge. It's okay if it takes you more than 20 minutes to complete a module! The time it takes you to complete the course isn't factored into any grading or your course completion badge, so there is no race to the finish line to complete a module.

What topics will be covered in the course?

This course covers a wide range of topics to help give students a good understanding on all the fundamental elements that are essential for the success of the offshore wind industry.

Topics included in the course include: offshore wind fundamentals, development, project design and engineering, human resources, markets and frameworks, project services, supply chain and construction, operations and end of life.

Because the course is holistic in the range of topics it covers, it will provide students a toolbox of knowledge that will be extremely useful no matter if they decide to pursue a career in engineering or public affairs, want to finance a wind project, or want to develop policies to build an offshore wind market in their country.

What is included in the course price of £100?

For just £100, you will get access to the complete Offshore Wind Learning essential course. This includes the following 8 modules: Introduction, Development, Project Services, Operations and Decommissioning, Supply Chain & Construction, Project Design & Engineering, Human Resources, and Markets & Frameworks.

Each module is comprised of 3-5 lessons, which include videos, audio, interactive activities, quizzes and more. The lessons are built to give you the most important information you need to know on a given topic, and also opportunities for you to apply this knowledge.

Students also have access to benefits provided by our partners in the 'Student Hub', such as discounts on memberships to key industry organisations to help open the door to a career in offshore wind.

Can I just purchase one module?

Because the mission of Offshore Wind Learning is to provide a holistic overview of the offshore wind industry, we do not sell the modules in the essentials course individually. Although you can choose just to do a selection of modules based on the topics you are interested in, we highly recommend completing each module in the order displayed in the course to get the most out of your Offshore Wind Learning experience.

Who developed the course?

Offshore Wind Learning was developed by Alastair Dutton, Alyssa Pek, and Chris Lloyd - three offshore wind experts with a combined 45 years of experience across the private and public sectors.

The course also includes inputs from our partners and leading organisations in the offshore wind sector, so you can be sure that all the information in the course is authoritative on the industry.

How do I pass the course?

Throughout the course, there will be many interactive activities, questions and quizzes. You don't need to get the answers right in each lesson to move on to the next, however, if you do get the answer wrong we highly recommend going back in the course and trying again to reinforce your learning. Since each new lesson and module builds on concepts and knowledge from the previous lesson or module, it's important to have a firm understanding before moving on to the next.

At the end of each module, there will be a quiz of 10 questions chosen at random from a bank of 30 questions that encompasses all the knowledge on that topic. You will need to get at least 8 questions right to pass the quiz. But don't worry, if you don't succeed the first time, you'll be able to take the quiz again. Don't hesitate to look back at the information in the course to succeed in the quiz.

You'll need to pass the module quiz in order to receive a completion badge, but you don't need to pass to move on to the next module.

At the end of the 8 modules, there will be one final quiz that tests your knowledge on all the modules. You will also need to get 80% on this quiz in order to receive your final certificate of completion.

Will I receive a certificate when I finish the course?

Yes! Once you pass the final quiz at the end of all 8 modules, you will receive a certificate of completion for the entire Offshore Wind Learning Course.

To track your progress throughout your Offshore Wind Learning journey, you will also receive badges upon the completion of each module. We encourage you to share these badges on social media so others can follow your journey, and you can showcase your newfound offshore wind knowledge.

Since Offshore Wind Learning is supported by leading organisations in the energy sector, your course badges and certificates can be used as a passport to enter the industry. Upload them to your LinkedIn or add to your CV to highlight your expertise in offshore wind.

What is the best way to access the course?

You can access the course on your phone, tablet, laptop or computer. For the best experience, we recommend using a laptop or computer to better view the graphics from a larger screen.

While you can use any browser to access the course, we recommend using Google Chrome for the best experience.

What makes this course different from other course available?

This course is different from other course available for two main reasons: content and price point.

A lot of courses out there focus on a particular topic like policy or engineering, but our course covers a holistic range of topics so that you have a better overall understanding of the sector, which is crucial no matter what you decide to do with the knowledge. Our content is also engaging and interactive, so you aren't stuck reading a long PDF or watching a long presentation. We've taken the most important concepts and made them accessible for a wide range of learning types and backgrounds so you can retain the knowledge better.

Our course is also the most affordable course on the market today. Given the quality and vastness of the content, a similar course would normally sell for over £3,000. But since our main goal is to educate as many people as possible on offshore wind, we decided to make the price significantly lower than others on the market so that anyone can have access to it.
